MEET THE FAMILY
Dick and Sally were married in 1956 and just celebrated their 55th anniversary in November of 2011. Dick graduated from the Wharton School and was a pilot in the Strategic Air Command after college. Sally graduated from Beaver College. They purchased the small 7 acre farmette and planted their first seedlings in 1963. Dick began teaching English and Social Studies at Owen J. Roberts High School, and Sally began substitute teaching in area schools during those early years. |

Between 1957 and 1967, 5 sons were born into the family. To help finance the expected costs of college for the boys, Dick started a small personal lines insurance agency, which he operated for 20 years. , In addition, all the boys helped with the tree business and worked at various outside jobs as they grew up. The boys all graduated from college, which included: Penn State, Lehigh, Indiana Univ. of Pa. (2), and Baker College. |

And, finally, Rich and Judy, still on Lords Point, CT, have been part of a filming of a new Meryl Streep/Tommy Lee Jones movie, called "Great Hope Springs Eternal, which will be released late next year. We're all hoping that grandson, Andrew, who was in several scenes, won't end up on the cutting room floor. Grand daughter Nicole is is a junior at the U. of Maryland, and going to Spain for the spring semester. Son, Rich, is still Segment General Manager for G.E. Healthcare. |
Since Dick has been involved in so many outside activities over the years, Sally has really managed the Christmas Tree Farm. Even though she is in her late 70s she still trims the trees by hand, and hand mows around the trees numerous times during the year. (with help from some neighbors!) She takes pride in keeping the fields like a lawn. This is our 48th year in the tree business, and we continue to plant seedlings. The seedlings planted this year won't be ready for sale until Sally is in her mid 80s and Dick will be approaching 90. -The Heylmuns |
